“Last year I attended the Gala D’Oro di Fieracavalli as a groom and I was fascinated and impressed. From my first day, in fact, I understood the level of excellence of the event and its extraordinary ability to allow equestrian artists to present – in complete freedom – their work to a varied and international audience.”
And it is precisely thanks to this first experience with the Verona event that Mirela Paulus, a 40-year-old Belgian artist, decided to return to Verona as the protagonist of one of the nine evocative performances of the Gala D’Oro PATHOS, the show that celebrates the different emotions that the horse is able to transmit both to the rider and to anyone who watches it.
“Pathos is the essence of our life, it accompanies us from when we are little until adulthood, with positive and negative emotions. The difficult thing is to find a harmonious balance between all the feelings so as to be able to achieve the right serenity to pursue one’s dreams and goals. Furthermore, as an artist, emotions are of vital importance to me and support all my work.»
Happiness is the emotion chosen by Mirela for the performance that will see her, her horse Diego and her violin merge into one harmonious whole.
«“Amazzone e Violino” that I will perform on November 7 and 9 in Pavilion 8, is the realization of a promise I made to myself at the age of 4 when, after starting to play the violin, I thought: “When I grow up I will play the violin on the back of my horse”. I truly hope that the audience can perceive not only the infinite joy I feel every time I perform with Diego, but also that pinch of magic that binds us.»
Their relationship, in fact, is truly special and is only possible because they both know each other very well and are bound by a strong trust.
«I am not only an artist, but also an equestrian teacher. What I always tell my students is that everyone can achieve their goals, but only if they work hard and if they manage to create an authentic connection with their horse, which can only be established if you learn to know his needs, his fears and his strengths. Obviously there is no single and infallible method for everyone, but to build a relationship of trust it is necessary to understand how the horse observes the world, how he communicates, feels and learns, so as to approach him with a lot of humility and authenticity.”
The joy of Mirela and Diego awaits you at the Gala d’Oro of Fieracavalli, scheduled for Friday 7 and Saturday 9 November 2024.
