This year, the Mediterranean Horse Fair doubles up to involve all of Sicily from east to west. The event organized with the technical support of Fieracavalli is scheduled 20-22 May at Tenuta di Ambelia, followed 28-29 May at “La Favorita” racecourse in Palermo which finally reopens its doors for this occasion after five years of closure.
This not-to be missed show hosts sporting competitions, saddle christening, biodiversity, breeder shows, conferences, music and traditional food. Some of the most eagerly awaited events include the “Emotions of a Land” Gala evening – the equestrian theatre spectacle boasting the participation of the by-now very famous Spanish Cordoba Ecuestre Association.
The Guests of honour are Spanish Thoroughbreds in Ambelia and Arabian Thoroughbreds at La Favorita racecourse, helping to prompt a better understanding of traditions of Sicily – in the heart of the Mediterranean – through two of the most important periods of domination of the island: the times of Spanish and Arab rule.
