The Osteria Verona Antica, a historic restaurant in Verona, is located in Via Sottoriva, one of the most picturesque streets in the old city, a stone’s throw from the ancient Roman forum: Piazza delle Erbe.
A typical osteria with Veronese cuisine, a meeting place for the Veronese, perhaps to ‘do ciacole’ with Davide, the owner. Not only an osteria but also an old-style shop, with the sale and tasting of typical products and a well-stocked wine shop, La Cantina.
To take part in the Sapori di Razza Città di Verona competition, the Osteria Verona Antica proposes a homemade egg pasta made with maize flour sautéed with sausage, leeks and smoked malga ricotta cheese and Madagascar wild black pepper.
A dish that wants to recall those simple moments shared with friends in front of a fireplace after a day of work, sport, challenges and hard work with horses.
A dish with rustic, unadulterated flavours using natural products from our countryside fruit of the knowledge of our farming traditions, polenta, sausage with its art handed down from the Luganese, and smoked ricotta as an ancestral method of preservation, embellished with Madagascar pepper to remind us that today the world is not as big as we think, but is a small and fragile treasure to be safeguarded.
Osteria Verona Antica is the second finalist in the Sapori di Razza Città di Verona competition. Come and discover the Verona tradition in Via Sottoriva 10 and try the dish dedicated to Fieracavalli. Then vote here for your favourite dish!
