“I want a horse that is happy to dance with me.”
Known to her audiences as “The Alchemist Rider”, equestrian artist Clemance Faivre helps us discover unprecedented complicity between a woman and a horse.
“Personally, I think that all my performances are technical as well as aesthetic experiences. Even as a young girl, in addition to my love for horses, I have also cultivated a passion for cinema and beauty. Thanks to a great deal of commitment and stubbornness, I’ve managed to make these two worlds coincide by becoming a professional actress and stunt-woman.
Clemence, over all this time, has never been alone in her artistic journey. “If it weren’t for my two horses, Gotan and Fuego, my faithful stage mates, I wouldn’t be here today. They enable me to express my art all over the world in a very personal way.”
It was love at first sight with both of them and Clemence was immediately won over by their generosity, sensitivity and intelligence. Yet how can you establish such an authentic relationship with your horses?
“My relationship with Gotan and Fuego is based on good communication. Over time, step by step, I managed to gain their trust – a fundamental step in building a genuine relationship with horses. In what way?
Anyone intending to get close to horses must first of all respect their history, their experience. The rider must understand their character – which varies from horse to horse – rather like what happens in relationships between people.
As with friends, so with horses: I always wonder if they are comfortable with me and if they like my company. That’s the point, otherwise what is the point?”
Attention to detail, fluid movements and sensation of freedom. Clemence and her faithful horses are already preparing to amaze audiences with a performance inspired by the work of the french impressionist artist René Magritte.
“A performance that I can’t wait to put on stage. It will be a real fusion between haute école, classic dressage and doma vaquera. I decided on a performance without bridles so that my horses can feel free to express themselves.”
