Fieracavalli is scheduled in Verona 7–10 November. The event continues to strengthen its efforts to promote Italian horse breeds and this year begins collaboration with the Haflinger Federation: the organization has been engaged for over a century in work to preserve the culture, roots and historical heritage of the Haflinger breed.
These horses, originally from Alto Adige, have always been admired for their docile nature and reliability, but also for their iconic chestnut coat and unmistakable blonde mane. Furthermore, Haflingers are today one of the best-loved horses for horse assisted therapy, sport and leisure.
An unmissable event is planned this weekend for everyone who already appreciates the typical features of Haflingers as well as those who have not yet discovered these horses: The HALFLINGER FESTIVAL and large provincial exhibition. Fieracavalli will also attend the event with an information stand where enthusiasts in the equestrian world will find all the news about the coming show.
Sluderno from 31 May to 2 June will see the entire Haflinger community in Alto Adige come together and celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Federation. On this occasion, visitors will have the chance to learn about the selection and assessment work behind more than 230 horses – as implemented by the breeders taking part – while not overlooking the entertainment side with live blues and folk music, food trucks serving Alto Adige specialities, a parade of coaches and – for children – the eagerly awaited Saddle Christening.
Saturday afternoon at 15:.45, the Val Venosta Museum (VUSEUM) in Sluderno will also host the presentation of the “150 years of Haflinger Breeding – History and Stories” book by Dr Erich Messner. Immediately afterwards at 17:00, the Museum will also host the Haflinger World Convention, when experts in research and equine selection will discuss topics related to science and knowledge about the Haflinger breed.
The complete programme of the special Haflinger weekend is available on the website: www.haflinger-festival.eu
It will also be possible to admire superb examples of the Haflinger breed at first hand during Fieracavalli. The 126th edition is scheduled 7-10 November in Verona.
