Piazza di Siena – packed with fans cheering on their heroes – was the perfect setting for two days of competitions involving 16 teams in the Sport Circuit of the Italian Champions Tour competing over courses that put horses, riders and riders to the test, while keeping audiences in suspense until the closing stages of this second stage.
After fighting down to hundredths of a second, Banca del Fucino Las Helmet won the Sport Circuit thanks to extraordinary performances by Sofia Manzetti and Luca Coata, riding Fiolita andHolly Del Rilate, which saw the team win a total of29 points. Equipe Selleria Group took 28 points for a well-deserved second place, thanks to fine rides by Lorenzo Correddu on Dalakani Chardonnet and Roberto Previtali on Esteban De Hus. The bronze medal, on the other hand, was grabbed by the Victor Handmade team with Giovanni Consorti riding Felicia and Alberto Zorzi riding Stakalite.
And precisely Alberto Zorz was crowned the “King of Rome” by closing both competition days at the top of the individual rankings.
Theoverall rankings for the Sport Circuit at the end of this second stage sees Team Poggi in the lead with 52 points, followed with the same score by Equipe Selleria Group. Third place, on the other hand, went to Victor Handmade with 43 points.
The 12 teams competing in the brand new Pro Circuit also fought it out to hundredths of a second all weekend.
In the end, victory went to the EJ Givova Pro team – comprising Andrea Cantiani riding Biber and Donato Cappetta on Flying Dutchman V.D.M. – coming out in front of Horo Team Pro, second thanks to good rides by Roberto Consumati on Deja Vu and Charlotte Maccagnani on Caluna De Berlo Z, who won heat 2. The two teams, respectively scored 20 and 19 points, were followed by Goldspan Team Pro led by team manager Danilo Scagnoli to take third place with Valerio Ielapi riding Qoncrats De Muze and Lorenzo Spaggiari on Ilot-Blue Van Wegen.
The overall ranking of the PRO circuit– adding the scores achieved by the teams in the first stage in Arezzo and this one in Rome – sees the Horo Team Pro out in front with 35 points, ahead of Co.Ge. Srl Team Pro and Hope Age Handtmann II Team Pro, second and third both with 34 points.
As this travelling circuit moves ahead, each stage becomes even more crucial as regards earning points with a view to the grand final during Jumping Verona, scheduled at Fieracavalli next 7-10 November 2024.
Meanwhile, the not-to-be-missed dates for the third stage of the Italian Champions Tour are 25 and 26 October – where 28 teams will compete this year over the ring at the Horses Riviera Resort in San Giovanni in Marignano.
