The organisational machine is full speed ahead with preparations for Jumping Verona 2022, the fourth leg of the Western Europe league of the Longines FEI Show Jumping World Cup™. The names of the Italians riders have already been announced. Coach Marco Porro comments
Excellence is well and truly at home at Fieracavalli, especially as regards sporting events. And expectations for the upcoming international appointment with Jumping Verona are growing day by day.
All the top names competing in the CSI5*-W, with the grand prix closing the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™, the fourth stage of the Western Europe Group of the historic indoor show jumping world circuit, will be announced on Friday, once the definitive registrations are finalised.
The Italian Federation of Equestrian Sports, in the meantime, yesterday late in the afternoon, announced the ten riders called up to represent Italy in this highly selective context – having already their places in the line-up for the Grand Prix.
They are: Piergiorgio Bucci, Lorenzo De Luca, Emanuele Gaudiano, Giulia Martinengo Marquet, Riccardo Pisani and Francesco Turturiello.
They are joined by: Filippo Bologni and Valentina Isoardi (who have to qualify from the previous categories valid for this purpose), as well as young riders Lorenzo Correddu (2003) and Guido Franchi, included in the team but with no access in the World Cup Grand Prix.
Thanks to the wild cards issued by the organizing committee, the Italian starting line-up also includes Francesco Correddu (22 years old on 8 December and Lorenzo’s older brother) who earned his qualification by recently winning the Coppa degli Assi Grand Prix at the Militello Val di Catania international event, Giacomo Casadei (20 years old last 1 September), Eugenio and Guido Grimaldi, Michol Del Signore and Roberto Previtali.
«The Italian team combines experience and future talent. It brings together a number of riders who are genuine cornerstones of Italian jumping and promising one who are improving all the time and makes us rely on a great deal for the future,» said Marco Porro, Coach of the national show jumping team. «The event in Verona is massively important for our riders. The line-up is always extraordinary and it gives the chance for a comparison with top riders on home ground. This generates motivation that is quite different from any other competition. We are ready and roaring to go.»
