The 124th Fieracavalli was presented this morning. The international equestrian event is scheduled this year 3-6 November at Veronafiere, with the return to its original four-day format
One week before the start, the traditional press presentation of Fieracavalli took place this morning.
The first official act of the 124th edition of the Veronese event was attended by Federico Bricolo, President of Veronafiere, Damiano Tommasi, Mayor of Verona, Maurizio Danese, Managing Director of Veronafiere, Luca Zaia, President of the Veneto Region (video connection), Marco Di Paola, President of the Italian Federation of Equestrian Sports (video connection), Riccardo Boricchi, Show Director of Jumping Verona, Armando Di Ruzza, Fieracavalli event manager, and Maria Baleri, Fieracavalli technical consultant.
As ever, the sporting program of the event will also include Jumping Verona, the only Italian leg of the Longines FEI Show Jumping World Cup™, with riders competing from 21 countries: the list of entries is headed by world number 1, Swede Henrik Von Eckermann, and includes 16 Italians.
Hall 8, the Pala Volkswagen, will also host the Fieracavalli Grand Prix 124×124 and the final of the Italian Champions Tour.
There follow below comments by Marco Di Paola and Riccardo Boricchi about Jumping Verona and the Show Jumping World Cup.
Marco Di Paola, President FISE: “The World Cup is the flagship of the sporting events at Fieracavalli – a stage that is well-loved by the most important riders in the world. As always, we are ready to field our own best representatives, who will be joined by some of Italy’s most promising young talent. The Federation is also delighted with what has become over time the hall known as the Fise Arena – the place where the competitive activities developed region by region all over Italy throughout the year come to their conclusion. And all this takes place in the context of an event, of a product, that is held in extremely high regard not only in Italy but also in the rest of the world.”
Riccardo Boricchi, Show Director – Jumping Verona: “The line-up for Jumping Verona will once again live up to the calibre of the event. Despite the very busy schedule, riders will be there at the start with their best horses: the quality of these competitors is of the highest level, as we reap the fruits of the marvellous work carried out in the past. And for Italian riders, it will be an important opportunity for comparison, alongside other fundamental events such as the 124×124, the Italian Champions Tour and Top Team. From a technical point of view, there will be a fundamental innovation thanks to the willingness and collaboration of Fieracavalli: the extension of the competition field in the Volkswagen Hall. It is now 7 metres longer, with dimensions up from 41×70 to 40×77 metres. This will enable chef de piste Uliano Vezzani to work even better with larger spaces ensuring less stress for horses and riders.”
