Award made to the Sicily Region at Fieracavalli

9 November 2019

"For its commitment to the preservation and conservation of animal biodiversity”

The Sicily Region received an award this morning in the Ring ib Area A. Constant efforts on behalf of the equestrian sector in the region through important projects to protect and preserve the biodiversity of Siciliy’s four native breeds – thoroughbred Oriental and Sanfratellano horses and Panteschi and Ragusano donkeys – has seen the region establish a strong bond with Fieracavalli.

This was highlighted today during the meeting attended by Armando Diruzza and Giuseppe Salerno, consultant to the Councillor for the Sanfratellano breed, Edy Bandiera, Councillor for Culture of the Sicily Region, and Salvatore Sidoti, Mayor of San Fratello.

Fieracavalli will also be an opportunity to present and promote the second edition of the Mediterranean Horse Fair organised at Tenuta di Ambelia, Militello Val di Catania 15-17 May 2020.

The Sicily Region stand also offers the chance to see a terracotta head of a horse dating back to V century B.C. which highlights the important role of horses in the life and art of Sicily.
