Ecopneus at Fieracavalli together with UISP

7 November 2021

Two weekends of information and entertainment for everyone dedicated to the well-being of horses and riders on recycled rubber terrain made from end-of-life tyres

The well-being of horses and riders is the confirmed goal for Ecopneus and UISP, working together at Fieracavalli 2021 to raise awareness on the advantages of recycled rubber terrain for equitation. Scientific studies and field tests have shown how using recycled, eco-sustainable and latest-generation rubber terrain for equitation protects the horse’s joints, drastically reduces the dispersion of dust in the air compared to traditional sand-based rings, can be drained, involve very low maintenance costs and boast strong anti-shock values, which also means they are ideal for protecting riders.

For this reason, the protagonists at the 123rd edition of Fieracavalli also include the Tyrefield equitation ring highlighted in Area A, immediately after the Cangrande Entrance Gate and in front of Hall 1, where many of the horse show’s activities take place. This is a proven, innovative solution capable of combining sport, environmental sustainability and the well-being of horses and riders. The Fieracavalli ring was set up thanks to Ecopneus, a non-profit company that manages the collection and recycling of End of Life Tyres in Italy and UISP, the Italian Sport For All Union.

The Tyrefield ring measuring 20 x 40 metres set up in Area A, with the contribution of Promix, was implemented in accordance with parameters identified by Uliano Vezzani, International Chef de Piste, using 890 recycled rubber plates positioned under the processed sand surface finish. Recycled rubber was also used for all the walkways between the various areas used by horses.

Fieracavalli activities taking place on the Tyrefield field will be covered live every day from 11.30 to 12.00 and again from 15.30 to 16.00 during the Cavalli on Live programme, a daily appointment with the equestrian world providing information, show talk and, above all, raising awareness of the well-being of horses and riders through comments by experts in the sector. The broadcasts cover several themes focusing on recycled rubber used for the terrain of competition rings and horse boxes, as well as university research, the disciplines best suited to this kind of ground finish and even the well-being of the dogs that often accompany horse lovers.

Over the first weekend, the programme will be conducted by Mariaelena Leggieri (journalist with Teleambiente) and the second by Federico Pasquali (journalist with Gazzetta dello Sport) both joined by Fabrizio Forsoni, the UISP equitation expert.

Cavalli on Live is also available on the Facebook pages of Ecopneus and UISP.
