Munich-Verona: see you again in 2021

4 May 2020

The appointment with the equestrian raid between Verona and Munich has been postponed for health safety reasons.

“Health first”: this is the key principle behind the difficult yet necessary decision to postpone the Munich-Verona raid to 2021. Given the continuing, unabated health emergency, the organisers – including Gianni Della Bernardina – in agreement with Fieracavalli, have decided to cancel the 2020 edition.

The journey of about 600 km – with fifteen planned stop-offs – involves riders in the saddle of blond Hafflinger horses ideal for the mountain stretches (provided by AnacrHai) who would have crossed the southern part of Bavaria and the Inn Valley in Austria, as well as the Fernpass and the Resia pass to enter Italy before travelling along the entire Adige valley to reach Verona.

Yet the appointment is only postponed!

Fieracavalli has already invited the Mayor of Munich to attend the next edition of the trade fair, while looking forward to celebrating the sixty-first anniversary of the twinning between Verona and Munich with the equestrian raid a year later during Fieracavallli 2021. As ever, he raid in 2021 will also be an opportunity to recall two important figures in the world of Italian equitation: Roberto Gobbi, one of the “father-figures” of Fieracavalli, and Mario Palumbo, journalist and former editor of Cavallo Magazine.

The journey will be organised once again with the aim of bringing people closer to slow and ecological equestrian tourism, as well as symbolically strengthening – thanks not the least to horses – the bonds between the peoples of the European Union.
