Reigning Olympic champion, Great Britain’s Ben Maher, steered Dallas Vegas Batilly to victory in today’s fourth leg of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ 2023/2024 Western European League in Verona, Italy.
Just eight of the 40 contenders found their way into the second-round jump-off against the clock and Maher was chasing a super-tight target time of 37.60 seconds set by reigning European champion Steve Guerdat from Switzerland partnering Venard de Cerisy.
Second-last to go, the British rider raced through the timers 0.15 seconds faster, and when Frenchman Julien Epaillard and Donatello d’Auge had a fence down when last into the ring then Guerdat had to settle for runner-up spot ahead of Belgium’s Nicola Philippaerts and Katanga v/h Dingeshof in third place.
