One of the must-see events for all Fieracavalli enthusiasts is without question Area A – the space near the main entrance to the horse show hosting shows and demonstrations dedicated to the multifaceted world of horses. And precisely this ring will the other half of the equestrian world again this year: donkeys back in the limelight ready to capture the attention of young and old alike.
Yet what makes them so special?
“Donkeys by nature are very personable and create intense and immediate emotional exchanges with human beings. Their loving and reassuring presence is a true panacea for body and soul: their slow progress with a cadenced rhythm helps make thoughts lighter, reduce stress and reconnect with nature,” says Massimo Montanari, owner of a donkey centre in Reggio Emilia.
“I have been organizing walks for 26 years – for enthusiasts and other people – in the company of donkeys. One excursion with them was enough for me never to be able to stop exploring paths all over Italy accompanied by these docile, long-eared animal,” Massimo goes on. “Walking side by side with a donkey truly helps bring you closer to nature, giving everyone a unique experience that goes beyond a simple stroll.”
