Spanish thoroughbreds (Pura Raza Española) have played a decisive role in the history of man as well as horse breeds. Spanish horses have had an immense influence on European and American breeds: they were among the horses that the “Conquistadores” took to the American continent, where they had become extinct 8000 years beforehand. Involved in all the great battles marking Iberian history, Spanish horses dominate the paintings of Velásquez and Goya.
This breed originated in Spain – where it seems to have been present even before the Roman era!
With a seductive gaze and hugely expressive, large, dark, penetrating and intense eyes, Spanish thoroughbreds are fast and very strong. In movement, they flaunt pride and dynamism, with emphatic and spectacular gaits. Today, thanks to these qualities, Spanish Thoroughbreds are ideal for outdoor equitation – yet thanks to their wonderful mental balance, they are also ideal for Dressage, coach teams and equestrian performances.
Defined by French Prince Condé as “the horse of kings”, Spanish thoroughbreds stand out for their elegant form, powerful, proportionate and harmonious body and their thick, long manes.
In collaboration with UAIPRE-United Italian Pura Raza Espaqola Associations – the Association that maintains the PRE stud book in Italy – and other sector associations, Fieracavalli will host competitions and demonstrations highlighting the aptitude not only of Spanish Thoroughbreds but also Lusitanian Thoroughbreds.
Iberian colours and traditions await you at Fieracavalli with more than 100 horses!
